> ### TL;DR: (summary)
>
> We would like to submit for consideration a software upgrade proposal for the [dYdX Protocol v9.0](https://github.com/dydxprotocol/v4-chain/releases/tag/protocol%252Fv9.0.0). This version introduces TWAP order support, revenue sharing for order routers, and governance-driven proposer set reduction.

# Introduction:

Hello dYdX Community,

We’re bringing to your attention the dYdX Protocol release `v9.0`, which introduces TWAP order support, order router revenue sharing, and proposer set reduction to further enhance trading functionality, ecosystem incentives, and governance flexibility.

**Note:** the adoption of `v9.0` is subject to software upgrade via a governance proposal.

# Specification:

Detailed information on `v9.0` can be found in the [release notes](https://github.com/dydxprotocol/v4-chain/releases/tag/protocol%2Fv9.0.0).
Key updates include:

- **TWAP Orders:** Allows users to submit orders that will be executed at certain time intervals at the current market price.

- **Order Router Revenue Sharing:** Enables frontends to receive a governance-defined share of trading fees by attributing their router to orders.

- **Proposer Set Reduction:** Provides dYdX governance the ability to designate a subset of validators as block proposers, improving reliability and performance.

# Next Steps:

Feedback is welcome on this DRC. The dYdX Operations subDAO suggests the following timeline for proceeding with the governance proposal:

- **Proposal Submission** : 27.08.2025

- **Expected Vote Outcome** : 31.08.2028

- **Upgrade Date** : 02.09.2028

- **Suggested Block Height** : [54450000](https://www.mintscan.io/dydx/block/54450000)

**Note** : _We advise that the potential proposer revise the suggested block height at the time of proposing and pick an upgrade height close to 5:00 PM (UTC) on 02.09.2025 - especially in case the ETA of [54450000](https://www.mintscan.io/dydx/block/54450000) has shifted dramatically._

- Learn more about submitting proposals:[Submitting a Proposal](https://docs.dydx.trade/governance/submitting_a_proposal)

**NOTE** : Please make sure to include the required [info-fields](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/blob/main/x/upgrade/types/upgrade.pb.go#L51) in the proposal.

**`Also, please note that the protocol software has dropped patch number from upgrade name, therefore mandating the use of v9.0 in the proposal JSON.`**

Thank you for your continued participation and support in the governance and improvement of the dYdX Chain.
