this is concerning. All the addresses have the same pattern, as mentioned by @tttt . Similar amounts, similar transaction counts, and last activity on the 27th. Iām not sure how this slipped through, as itās a quite large and obvious Sybil attack. This alone will cost the community over $30,000. Iām actually surprised that accounts with such low balance are even eligible to receive rewards in the first place. All the accounts mentioned were funded with sub $40 USDC, which is another obvious tell that itās the same actor, or that someone is simply farming. Iām all about inclusivity, but it makes no sense distributing $100 to accounts with a initial deposit of lesss than $40

Yeah, this is concerning and Iām also all about inclusivity. And we can doing something like to boost the threshold to $50. I remembered in v3 there was once bonus $50 for new usersā first deposit $50.

The community treasury is just a leaky bucket, look at the grant spending on some things and compensation, compared to that spending $30k on something that creates at least activity on the exchange is nothing.
Of course @chaoslabs have resources to ban at least obvious sybil clusters and I have no idea why it wasnāt implemented

The initial deposit incentive was originally developed to attract new traders, limited to the top 1500 new accounts with the highest volume, with the aim of minimizing sybil activity and pure reward farming. Furthermore, the absolute value of these rewards is relatively small compared to the total season rewards (3%).
To remain unbiased and adhere to the announced incentive structure the proposed distribution remains unchanged. We view front end and other retail activity as more valuable and have introduced direct rewards for this. Considering the small magnitude of this activity of ~0.6% does not materially dilute worthy traders, we prefer not to make these judgments after the fact, especially unannounced.
In season 5, sybil activity will not be tolerated. We will be implementing additional monitoring and policing systems to detect this behavior, and accounts implicated will be excluded from rewards. In addition, the following measures will be added:
- Reducing the number of new accounts eligible for rewards to 500.
- Introducing a minimum deposit requirement of $100 for eligibility for these rewards.
