Validator Introduction - Kingnodes

Hello dYdX community and token holders,

This is Null from Kingnodes validator, very proud dYdX community member and service provider.

We are a blockchain infrastructure company providing public distributed proof of stake validator nodes across the blockchain landscape as well as high availability network infrastructure that backstops the user experience for our protocol and private clients.

We are a Genesis Validator selected by the dYdX Ops Services team as a validator providing high value during the testnet phase.

We welcome delegations to our validator here and please feel free to connect with us at our Telegram, Discord server or follow our X for updates. You can also checkout our website.

We are also providing high availability RPC infrastructure for the dYdX trading frontend and bridge, archive nodes in multiple locations, as well as ancillary services such as archive download endpoint, statesync reference servers and seed node, under contract to dYdX Operations Services Ltd.

Entity name and location

Our company, King Blockchain Pty Ltd (providing validator service under the moniker “Kingnodes”) are an Australian based blockchain service provider.

Infrastructure location

Our infrastructure is hosted throughout the world in top-tier datacentres operated by our bare metal hosting providers. Our primary providers are OVH, Digital Ocean, OneProvider and Vultr. Our primary locations are Europe west, southeast Asia, south Asia and India. Our validator nodes for dYdX are primarily around Tokyo area.

What kind of hardware do you run?

We utulise a minimum of two bare metal hardware servers for each validator, and depending on the network distribution and network load, up to four nodes in different geographical locations to ensure network connectivity. Our nodes are considered public sentries that are then connected to our Horcrux signer. We have found this configuration to be highly adaptable and we maintain some of the highest uptime on the select networks we validate for.

Technical make-up of team

We are a small team primarily consisting of the Founder Jerome (aka Null) and as required contractors for specialist tasks or additional geographic on-call coverage. Null has 3 years experience in operating nodes based on the Cosmos SDK and is the lead DevOps for the company.

Years of experience

Null has been operating Cosmos SDK since the start of 2021.

What other networks are you running validators for?

Kingnodes operate validator nodes for 14 mainnets including Injective, Sei, Kujira, Atargaze, Evmos, among others.

Based on your participation in any previous testnets, mainnets, are there any best practices to be aware of? What are some things that made previous testnets, mainnet launches successful and/or things to avoid that have gone poorly?

  • It is incredibly important for validators to have the correct node configuration, particularly on a more technically challenging network like dYdX chain. The ETH bridge relies on operators configuring their infrastructure correctly to avoid bridge delays. Kingnodes utilise what we believe to be the best signing solution for Cosmos SDK based chains, horcrux configure as previously described. We believe it is important to distribute infrastructure across various continents, service providers and datacentres to progide resillience against unforseen issues like regional environmental events, service provider issues, network issues or even billing issues.

  • Monitoring and alerting is at the core of our operations and we believe this to be one of the most important cornerstones for a well coordinated and successful node operator. We have spent years developeing our system and optimising our response to node and network events.

Do you have a validator voting framework and process?

  • Kingnodes carefully consider each governance vote. Give that we are a multichain validator, we undertake our assessment of the vote from the perspective of the token holders on that particular chain and vote in their best interest. We dont always get it right, and we listen to our community in our Telegram and Discord servers. If our community does not agree with us, we listen to feedback and may change our vote to suit our communities opinions.

Are you planning to play any additional roles in the dYdX ecosystem (e.g. market maker, trader, indexer, front-end, other)?

  • Kingnodes are an infrastructure provider for the underlying dApps for dYdX, under contract to dYdX Operations Services Ltd. We will provide infrastructure to the highest standards to ensure the best possible user experience.
