. This upgrade introduces builder fee support, order batching, cross-margin market launches, and improved liquidity tiers.
Introduction:
Hello dYdX Community,
We’re bringing to your attention the dYdX Protocol release v8.1
, aimed at better incentivising external builders, reducing friction and improving user experience, reducing market launch barriers.
Note: the introduction of v8.1
is subject to software upgrade via a governance proposal.

Key improvements include:
- Builder Codes which enable external parties to earn fees for submitting and routing orders.
- Clob Transaction Batching which allows multiple order actions in a single transaction.
- Cross Instant Market Listings which support cross-margin trading from market launch.
- IML_5x - a new liquidity tier for Instant Market Listings (discussion)
Next Steps:
Feedback is welcome on this DRC. The dYdX Operations subDAO suggests the following timeline for proceeding with the vote proposal:
- Proposal Submission: Jun 27 2025
- Expected Vote Outcome: July 1 2025
- Upgrade Date: July 2 2025
- Suggested Block Height: 48980000
Note: we advise that the potential proposer revise the suggested block height at the time of proposing and pick an upgrade height close to 15:00 UTC on July 2 - especially in case the ETA of 48980000 has shifted dramatically.
