Grants program v1.5 community grantor position

I feel compelled to address the unsettling discourse that has recently clouded this forum. While open dialogue and a diversity of opinions are the bedrocks of a vibrant community, there are foundational norms that we should universally respect. One of these is the principle of engaging with integrity and not resorting to personal attacks, particularly from behind the veil of anonymity.

The targeted criticisms directed at @RealVovochka from newly created accounts are troubling and go against the spirit of constructive communication. @RealVovochka has been with dYdX for an extended period, contributing insights and participating in discussions that many have found valuable. These contributions, whether one agrees with them or not, come from a place of involvement and commitment to the transparency and growth of our community.

Creating accounts solely for the purpose of launching personal attacks is not only counterproductive but also harmful to the healthy exchange of ideas that we have fostered over the years. It undermines the sense of safety and respect that community members expect when they participate here.

Furthermore, it’s important to recognize that every member, new or old, holds the right to express their views. However, this right comes with a responsibility to maintain a level of respect and professionalism. It’s perfectly acceptable — even necessary — to have spirited debates, but let’s ensure they are anchored in facts, ideas, and legitimate concerns rather than personal animosities.

To @Pinkynarff and @ferzibemla, while your participation is welcomed, I urge you to bring forward your thoughts and disagreements in a manner that contributes to solving problems and improving our community. We all share a common goal here, and it’s vital that we collaborate in ways that uphold the dignity of all members.

To all community members: let’s commit to holding each other accountable, to challenge ideas rather than attacking individuals, and to remember that our ultimate goal is to see dYdX succeed. Let’s not dilute our focus with unwarranted personal disputes.

In conclusion, I propose that we collectively take a stance against behaviors that disrupt healthy communication and take proactive steps to reinforce the positive community environment we all value. This may involve revisiting our guidelines or introducing measures to ensure that engagement remains productive and respectful.

Thank you for upholding the spirit of constructive and respectful dialogue.

Hello everyone,

I feel the need to address the tone that is being used here as it’s not one which would ever attract new contributors to the space. As a disclaimer, I speak on my own behalf here and not in my role as an Enforcer or DOT or any other role within any other ecosystem.

The tone of voice and subtle insults being thrown about from all sides here is discomforting to say the least. I fail to see how any of this would ever result in, well, anything. There is nothing productive in posting on the Forums and performing subtle (yet obvious) attacks against other users with a condescending tone of voice which will only serve to disincentivize other users from even attempting to contribute here (this is not directly addressed to anyone, but a general note on the multiple accounts that participated in this).

RV has gone over the line in the past, and his actions were addressed (even recently by DOT where, for the sake of all individuals involved and in light of the governing provisions of this Forum, we proceeded to amend one of his forum posts to make sure it is in conformity with the Forum’s governing provisions). His past transgressions were addressed, conversations took place with RV wherein he recognized these transgressions, and the matter was closed. These replies going back and forth are resulting in nothing but bad optics and a waste of time and can ever achieve anything positive. If anything, they are childish and are not representative of what we should be dedicating our time on.

There are multiple current discussions which are ongoing that merit more time and attention, yet some are focusing their efforts on these frivolous engagements - let’s do better. Once we have a forum administrator in place to scan the forums on an ongoing basis, action will be taken to make sure that all users abide by the TOS which, by using the forum, they have agreed to abide by (ref: https://dydxopsdao.com/1e54a600d00d45939f450698ebb8a335)

On a separate note, I’d like to congratulate @mgg for getting chosen for the community grantor role - I look forward to seeing what the rejuvenated grants team will achieve in the coming months!

Kind regards,
IL
