Validator introduction - 01node Validator

Hi everyone, this is Faith from 01node Validator. Here is a rundown of who we are and what we do :slightly_smiling_face:.

Entity name and location

  • 01node Validator is a high-quality staking and infrastructure service provider based in Romania.

What kind of hardware do you run? Baremetal, cloud-based…Infrastructure location?

  • At 01node, we take pride in our robust infrastructure, which consists of our own Baremetal hardware located in two Tier 3 Datacenters in Romania.

  • Each server is equipped with high-frequency AMD Epyc CPUs, a minimum of 512GB of RAM, and NVMe disks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Our networking infrastructure is powered by Cisco Enterprise equipment, further enhancing our network capabilities.

  • We have established secure 40Gbps connections between the two Datacenters to ensure seamless connectivity and redundancy. With our own AS number and IP addresses, we can leverage multiple ISP providers simultaneously, providing flexibility and enhanced network resilience.

  • Our current total bandwidth of 40Gbps is protected by our ISPs’ anti-DDoS solutions, ensuring the stability and security of our operations.

Furthermore, through strategic partnerships, we have the ability to deploy infrastructure in various locations worldwide. Notably, one of our main partners has secure space in eight Datacenters across Asia, enabling us to extend our reach and provide reliable services in that region.

Technical make-up of team (elaborate on no. of dev ops engineers, experience, etc.)

  • We are a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals with decades of experience in various fields, including software development, IT infrastructure, cryptography, marketing, and financial services.
  • Our team comprises highly skilled professionals with extensive experience in the field. Our dedicated DevOps engineers with over 20 years of experience play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and security of our systems.

Years of experience

With over six years of experience in the Web3 space, we have been running nodes as validators since 2019. At 01node, we provide a range of services such as validation, Node-related operations, RPC deployments, Relaying, Oracle services, and much more.

What other networks are you running validators for?

Our existing validator nodes have secured value on several POS networks We run validators on over 30 networks.

Based on your participation in any previous testnets, mainnets, are there any best practices to be aware of? What are some things that made previous testnets, mainnet launches successful and/or things to avoid that have gone poorly?

A comprehensive and well-structured plan is crucial for the successful execution of any project involving multiple entities. Based on our past experiences, it has become evident that even simple tasks, which may take only 15 minutes for an individual, require a minimum 24-hour timeframe when considering the involvement of a hundred separate entities. Achieving consensus among all parties involved is not an easy feat and demands careful consideration.

One of the key elements for smooth execution is the availability of clear documentation outlining the specific software version and environment requirements for each participant. Additionally, providing explicit instructions for any necessary network-related steps, such as running an oracle alongside a validator, is essential.

To facilitate efficient monitoring and information sharing, it is highly beneficial to have a block explorer in place, providing seed/peer information and official RPC endpoints. From our experience, including links to state sync and snapshot parameters can significantly contribute to quickly resolving any network issues and ensuring prompt node setup.

Do you have a validator voting framework and process?

Yes, we do. We have implemented a robust validator voting framework and process to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Review the Proposal → Evaluate the Impact → Consider Community Input → Make an Informed Decision-> Cast Your Vote → Monitor Voting Results & Respect the Outcome.

Are you planning to play any additional roles in the dYdX ecosystem (e.g. market maker, trader, indexer, front-end, other)?

In addition to our validator services, 01node offers a range of products and services that can benefit the dYdX community. We provide secure and reliable infrastructure solutions,RPC deployments, Relaying, Oracle services, Community education via blogs/article, contests, etc, and much more.

Any notable contributions in other ecosystems that you would like to highlight for the community?

Our expertise extends beyond dYdX, as we have made notable contributions in other ecosystems, bringing valuable insights and knowledge to the community.

  • We received a grant of $60k from SSV Network to build an Eth staking pool in order to increase the decentralization of the Ethereum staking system.
  • Genesis validator for Cosmos, Osmosis, and other Cosmos based chains
  • Community education for various networks (e.g Persistence, Juno, Cosmos, etc)
