Meet Ilan - our new TPM
We are happy to welcome Ilan Melendez to our team, he is an experienced technical project manager with extensive experience in Blockchain development projects and with the Cosmos SDK in particular. This is a valuable addition to the team enabling us to better support the dYdX Chain upgrades and validator communications around the clock.
dYdX Chain Protocol Upgrades 5.1 and 5.2
Thanks to all parties involved, we believe that the dYdX Chain Protocol v5.1.0 and v5.2.0 upgrades were smooth and quick; While we continue to work on improving our communications with stakeholders and refining processes since the dYdX Chain Protocol v3.0, we are confident and fully prepared to handle upcoming protocol upgrades in a quick and smooth manner.
dYdX subDAO Handbook
In collaboration with Axis Advisory the Ops subDAO has substantially revamped the subDAO playbook to include and reflect the learnings we made during the past twelve months. The new content comes with a new name: “subDAO Handbook” now available at handbook.dydxopsdao.com. Although we will continue to update the handbook with future learnings and insights useful for other subDAOs, this completes one of the last open deliverables from the DOT 2.0 mandate.

We have included a historical timeline on dydxopsdao.com/about showing the development of the Ops subDAO over the past 18 months. This marks the major milestones (i.e. mandates, company formations and representative changes) together with the relevant documentation. This provides a comprehensive overview of the Ops subDAO and how we got here adding to the ongoing efforts to provide more transparency of the subDAO’s activities to the dYdX Chain community.
Halborn IT-Security Audit
In our ongoing efforts to improve our security practices we had Halborn audit our deployment infrastructure. This enables us to ensure we are operating according to the industry best practices in regards to security. Halborn confirmed that we were operating with high security standards but suggested a couple of improvements which we implemented swiftly.
Android app alternates app stores
In an effort to reduce the dependencies from service providers and or platforms we are exploring deploying the Android application on additional app stores. Our first choice would have been F-Droid the open source only app store, unfortunately the android app has a couple of integrations that are not open sourced and thus it is not possible to publish our application there. We are exploring the other known Android app stores and prioritize those with high user numbers, but will need to weigh the benefits with the additional workload for the deployment and their maintenance.

On average the Ops subDAO is spending about 350k USDC per month, this fluctuates due to different billing cycles, ranging from monthly to yearly, for different services (i.e. analytics software billed annually in April), and some special projects (i.e. Halborn security audit, billed in April).
